The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism (MPRT) along with the Tourism Development Department have recently held the 48th Meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organisations (ASEAN NTOs) for the first time at the Grand Ballroom of the V-Plaza Hotel, Jalan Sungai, Kuala Belait on 3-4th July 2018.

The meeting was chaired by the Vice-Chairman of Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu and Deputy Permanent Secretary (Tourism) at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali.

“We held the meetings here (in Kuala Belait), as we are looking to develop the Belait district as a destination for the tourism industry equally across the country,” said Deputy Permanent Secretary (MPRT) Wardi Hj Mohammad Ali in an interview.

“The Belait district has a lot to offer and it’s unique in its own way. Infact, we have introduced more packages last year to showcase Belait as a tourist destination,” he added.

More than 70 delegates and senior officials from ASEAN, China, Japan, Republic of Korea and India attended the meeting highlighting the ASEAN Tourism Strategic Plan (ATSP) 2016-2025, focusing on ASEAN regional destination marketing programme and related matters.

The four-day meetings concluded yesterday with the delegates participated in the Belait Heritage Tour. The tour focused on the visits to the landmarks and locations in the district as well as attended a Hari Raya open house at the residence of the Village Head of Kampung Mumong.
