Things to do before Raya

Brunei and other countries will celebrate Eid Al Fitr (Hari Raya Aidilfitri) in just a few days away. The day is considered as a day of victory after a whole month of fasting. Of course, necessary preparations for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration should be considered.

Since Ramadhan is the month for many Muslims to increasing their Imaan, preparing for Aidilfitri should also follow the Islamic ways – the celebration should be celebrated in moderation.

We at Sutera listed down some of the things that can be done before raya starts.

  • Paying the zakat fitrah

As part of the five pillars of Islam, it is an obligation to pay the zakat fitrah before the month of Syawal.

  • Visit the cemetary

Visiting late family members before the month of Syawal is highly recommended and it is also sunnah to do it on the morning of Raya.

  • Cleaning and decorating the house

During Raya, there will be an immense amount of people pay a visit to the house, so it is recommended to clean and do a house makeover.

  • Continue doing good deeds in the last 10 days

Since it is the last few days of Raya, continue doing good deeds such as giving donation and praying. Don’t just stop after Ramadhan ends.

  • Groom yourself

Looking your best for Eid is sunnah, so get a haircut, wear your best clothes and perfume as it a celebration after one month of fasting

  • Takbir Raya

The night before Raya, there is usually Takbir Raya at mosque or at home to signify the month of Syawal, so it is recommended to join this dikir in harmony with other muslims.

  • Hari Raya prayer

The morning of Syawal, muslims will gather and pray sunat aidilfitri at mosque and surau all over the country. Muslims are recommended to join as it is to show our gratefulness to Allah S.A.W for giving us the chance to finish our fasting.
