The Art and Creative technology (ACT) programme students from University Brunei Darussalam (UBD) held the opening ceremony of their 6th annual Art and Graduation Exhibition – UBD Spectacle 2018: Eminent Art at the Art Gallery, Chancellor Hall UBD. The exhibition is part of the student’s graduation requirements.

The guest of honor gracing the event was Associate Professor Dr. Mohammad Ayub Sadiq, Assistant Vice Chancellor (Academic Affairs), UBD.

“Since 2013, this have been an annual event. The art and creative technology students showcased the vital connection between creativity and innovation. These are the same connections that brings awareness to important matters in our daily lives,” said Dr Mohammad Ayub Sadiq in his opening speech.

Dr Mohammad Ayud highlighted that creative industry having a significant role in the society where as these are the same industry that provides graphics and entertainment to the public.

There are 70 exhibitions showcased by the final year ACT students. These exhibition acts as a platform that allow them to unleash their talents as well as bringing their creative mind come to life through their artworks. These artistry ranges from paintings, mural, sculptures to photography and mixed-media installations. Through these artistic creations, it comes with stories varying from personal struggles to social and cultural issues from Brunei or abroad.

The exhibition also allowed the students to build their portfolio in preparation to secure future employment as well as to approach art galleries in the near future.

The gallery is open from Monday to Thursday and Saturday starting from the 12 of april 2018 to 14 of May 2018. Opening hours from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm.
