His Excellency, Mr Motohiko Kato, Ambassador of Japan to Brunei Darussalam, held the Foreign Minister’s Commendation for 2018 award ceremony for Datin Dr Anita B Z Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor, Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) at the Japanese Ambassador’s residence on 18th September 2018.
“Datin Anita’s works as the Vice Chancellor of University of Brunei Darussalam has significantly improved academic cooperation between our two countries – Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Institute of Health Sciences (PAPRSB IHS) and the Faculty of Medicine Kagawa University of Japan have collaborated for a long time – the yearly International Summer Medical School programme since 2006” said His Excellency, Mr Motohiko Kato in his opening speech.
The Foreign Minister’s Commendation awards are given to individuals and groups with great achievements in international field to acknowledge their contributions of promoting friendship between Japan and other countries.
“I am extremely honoured to receive a very special award from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Japan – the award is not possible without the outstanding team in UBD – there is an old African proverb saying ‘it takes a whole village to raise a child’ – in this case, without the staff or students, I would not get this award” mentioned Datin Dr Anita B Z Abdul Aziz upon receiving the award.
For this year, the Commendations will be awarded to 205 individuals and 49 groups. In Brunei, it will be awarded to Datin Dr Anita B Z Abdul Aziz, Vice Chancellor, UBD and Dr Chin Wei Keh, Deputy Permanent Secretary (Higher Education). Ministry of Education.
