If there is one thing you can name that brings people together in Brunei, only one thing comes to mind – food. Bruneians love their food. During the month of Ramadhan, a visit to the food stalls is an anticipated activity for people to get their sungkai needs. One of the biggest groups of stalls is located near the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Bandar Seri Begawan called Gerai Ramadhan Stadium.

With over 205 vendors joining across 400 stalls this year, there are a lot of food and drinks to choose from. The Sutera team joined the crowd and picked out five favourites that you should check out!

Currypuff King Kong (Stall G25)

True to its name, the homemade curry puff is called king kong due to big size filed with beef that is priced at BND2 each. You can find this one-of-a-kind curry puffs at stall number G25. For those who are planning to buy these currypuffs, make sure to buy it early as the item is a quick seller.

Varieties of Skewers (Stall B33)

Every year, the barbeque stalls are a popular choice for patrons to Gerai Ramadhan. At stall B33, they sell various types of skewers such as chicken, beef lungs (hati buyah), lamb and fishcakes. All priced at BND1 each.

Doner Beef Kebab (Stall J13)

One of the foods that are a must when going to any Ramadhan stall – the doner kebab is a combination of meat and sauces, and stuffed inside a piece of pita bread. At stall J13, they cut the meat from a vertical rotisserie and construct it with their own special sauce before being wrapping it for the customers, ensuring the freshness of the kebabs.

Salted egg buns (Stall C8)

A twist from the traditional dumpling, the stall infused a Bruneian favourite, salted egg into the bun, giving the food a unique taste that cannot be found anywhere else. It is priced at BND2.50 for 3 pieces.

Assortment of Jumbo drinks (Stall C31 & 32)

Another local favourite during Ramadhan season to quench their thirst with jumbo drinks priced at BND1 each. At stall C31 and 32, they sell a wide variety of drinks suited for everyone such as ice lemon tea, milo, cendol, and ABC. Other than that, making a return this year are drinks that are packed in individual plastic bags for the convenience of the customers.
