Foodpanda (B) Sdn Bhd, an online food delivery service, recently collaborated with Wayback Burgers Brunei in presenting a 1-day food eating challenge with Bgag Brunei and Sutera called the Eat, Play, Love Triple Triple Challenge on the 20th July 2017.
The event was aired on foodpanda’s social media accounts – Facebook Live and Instragram Live in promoting both the challenge and Wayback Burgers Brunei. Three participants from Bgag Brunei, foodpanda, and Sutera were chosen to take part in this glutton-filled challenge.
The event itself was based on the theme of Eat, Play, & Love which included a variety of pop culture references such as Kpop, Game of Thrones, among others. For this challenge, it focused on the HBO series, Game of Thrones, where the main talking point was, “What would The Mountain eat?”
The Mountain, or also known as Ser Gregor Clegane, is played by a real-life Icelandic professional strongman, actor, and former professional player, Hafþór Júlíus ‘Thor’ Björnsson. For the Triple Triple challenge, the challengers were trying to emulate The Mountain in eating a NINE-layer patty burgers. In fact, each of those patty layers had an abundant amount of cheese!
To add spice to the test, the contestants had to finish the burgers in 3 minutes. Fun fact: if you manage to break the fastest record of eating the triple triple burger in the United States of America, you will be rewarded with USD 3,330.
Before the challenge started, the contestants discussed different strategies of finishing the burgers within 3 minutes, which included dipping the burger into beverages, breaking it into layers, or just plain eating it normally.
Despite their clever strategies, the food won the challenge, as none of the contestants managed to finish the nine-layer burgers in time. It certainly showed how tough it really is to be the strongest man in the world!
