In an effort to find more places to go in Brunei, the Sutera Team goes on an adventure to explore Brunei further. In our travels, we stumbled upon Taman Riadah Tasik Sarubing at Kampong Belimbing.
Despite the deteriorating facade, the park still receives visitors who enjoy spending time near the lake in the afternoon. It was first opened to the public on 14th January 2011, and has since then been used by the residents at Kampong Belimbing to house their events. There are various amenities available at the park such as food stalls that is operates daily; a gallery showcasing the history of the Kampong Belimbing; a paved walkway, a hiking trail, shaded huts and public restrooms.
The park also serves as an end point for hikers from Tasek Lama, which is about eight kilometres away. The trek from Tasek Lama to Tasik Sarubing takes about two hours to complete.
The Royal Brunei Enduro event has utilised the park for the past two years, which has helped to boost the number of incoming visitors to the park.
Why you should go there: Besides the breathtaking view from the lake, it is a great place to relax after a long hike.
How to get there: The park is a 20 to 30 minute drive from the capital, and can be easily spotted along alan Subok. You may find the directions on Google Maps.
